The Divine Comedy

Do you know who Milla is? Maybe you recognize her as a Super Model. Chances are you might have seen her in a film. Perhaps, although less likely, you are even aware of her from fashion design since she and fellow Super Model Carmen Hawk launched a line of clothing called Jovovich-Hawk in 2003. But did you also know that she wrote all her own songs and released an album in 1994?

Other than the cover of an Ukranian folk song, In a Glade, all the rest of the songs on this album were written by Milla Jovovich herself. This CD is a slow tempo offering with vivid, poetic melodies and arrangements. It is a soothing listen, which is ironic considering that the energy behind the music and lyrics is angst-ridden. Her voice, while not great, is catchy in an ethereal yet robust sort of way. This is one of those CDs that starts out slow, but grows on you as time passes. If you are trying to get pumped up for the next UFC cage match don’t put this on, but if you are in the mood for some intelligent, pleasing melodies crooned by a beautiful super model/actress, then by all means throw it on.

Here is the video for Gentleman Who Fell from the album.
