I think these silhouettes sum up the beauty of our sport. My body has definitely been in each and every one of these positions at some point during the multitude of rounds I have played throughout the course of my life. Disc Golf is life!

Gregg Barsby wins the 2018 Worlds Championship
Barsby is the winner of the grueling 5 round 2018 Worlds Championship at Smuggler's Notch in the Men's Profesional Open division. Innvova is once again back on top and it couldn't have happened to a cooler guy. Barsby has been at it for many years and is recognized as once of the most free spirits and nicest guys in the game. It is a well deserved win and he was ecstatic as he dropped in the final putt to cement the win.
On the woman's side Paige Bjerkass wins her first world title. It is really interesting to see all of the new talent coming up in the ranks of both the men and the women. 2018 marks the crowning of two new, first time champions, something that is great for the sport. I love Disc Golf!

Paul McBeth shoots 18 under par at Great Lakes Open
The McBeast gets a full segment on ESPN Sports Center, complete with Shakespeare quotes from the play McBeth. An unbelievable performance and perhaps the greatest round ever played? You decide.

Well, he did hoist a trophy.
Just not the one he really wanted. Luka Modric won the Golden Ball at the 2018 World Cup as Croatia succumbed to an excellent French team 4-2 in the final.
It was a good game, although not without controversy after some dubious calls by the referee. That's futbol though and in the end France's talent shone through to show that they were indeed worthy of being in the finals and winning the title.
The captain of the gritty Croatian team, which captured the world's hearts and minds, took home the award of the best player at the 2018 World Cup, and deservedly so in my view. It was a great tournament and for a small nation, being second on the world stage is no small thing. Congratulations to all the teams that qualified and congratulations to France and Croatia for being number 1 and 2 in the world respectively. Also, my pick to take the whole thing (Belgium) came in third, their best showing ever on the World Cup stage. Congratulations to them as well. It was a great month of viewing for futbol fans all around the world. Now we have to wait another four years. Darn!

Well, my pick is out: Go Croatia!
Well, now that my pick, Belgium, is out and will be playing England in the third place game it is time to change allegiances. I am wholeheartedly rooting for Croatia, a tiny nation in their first ever world cup final. Who better deserves to hoist the trophy than Luka Modric, the 32 year old diminutive midfielder and captain who has the heart of a lion and the legs of a Tour de France cyclist.
What a journey for this team to make it this far. Three extra time victories in the knockout stage. Unheard of. Although they will be facing a rested French team and they will have very tired legs my heart will be with them and every single Croatian fan. Go Croatia, the underdogs and darlings of the tournament!

Belgium still going strong
My pick to take it all is still alive in the tournament. They face the mighty France tomorrow at 2:00 pm Eastern time. Now it gets really tough and it's anyone's tournament to win or lose with only four teams left. The good news is that they are only one win away from going to the final. We will see!

On to the quarterfinals...
Wow! What a game versus Japan. The Japanese played a fantastic game and the Belgians responded just in the nick of time. This game may have been the best thing that could have happened to Belgium so far.
Martinez made the right calls with his substitutions and this trap game may have been just what the doctor ordered before the herculean task of meeting Brazil this Friday arises. It's win or go home again and the stakes just keep getting higher. I can't wait.

Belgium is into the round of 16 comfortably
Well, so far so good for my pick. They won their group (even beating England) so I like their chances of getting to the quarters by beating a less talented Japanese side. The bad news is when they do, they will have to face the mighty Brazil, unless the earth stops rotating around the sun and somehow the Mexican side beats Brazil. That outcome is very unlikely, but would change the panorama substantially in Belgium's favor. What a great tournament so far!

Who will win the world cup?
It's that time. Once every four years the greatest party in the world arrives and it starts soon. So, it's time for predictions. Who will win? I am going to make a controversial pick just to get the party started. My pick is Belgium. You heard it here first.

Here he is, the best putter in the game right now. And yes, he is human contrary to what people may believe. Ricky Wysocki is just that good.

Best of 2017 - Part I
From the Gold Standard of Disc Golf coverage comes the best of 2017 in Disc Golf. 2017 was a banner year for the sport and one of the biggest reasons was the guys at Jomez Productions. Their coverage was insanely good and they were at every single event that mattered. Their post production is the best in the business and it is important that we recognize them for their efforts. A huge thank you to the team at Jomez Productions! Now enjoy the shots in Part One.

The nicest guy in Disc Golf is the 2017 United States Disc Golf Champion
This is it. The USDGC is the tournament all pros dream of winning. Well, now Nate Sexton (the nicest guy in disc golf) has finally elevated his game and taken the title of United States Disc Golf Champion. With his wife and new baby girl present to witness the win, Nate was all smiles when he was crowned the champion last week. He has worked hard and finally broke through to become the U.S. champion with a laser-like focus and steady game plan, which saw him take and hold the lead for the last two rounds of the tournament.
Nate is so well liked that all his competitors were extremely happy for him. Here is a sampling of the reactions and comments of some of the top pros in the sport who are Nate's competitors on the course. Click on the text below to see what they have to say about Nate's epic win.

There's a new beast in town!
Josh Anthon wins the Ledgestone Open wire to wire by a double digit margin of strokes over the Beast himself.
On a punishing course, with tons of OB danger requiring a need for distance as well as precision, Anthon cruised to victory, looking comfortable the entire way. He bested the number 1 and number 2 players in the world by at least 10 strokes and took home the $6,500.00 purse all by himself. The question is, can he show consistency and repeat this performance in future tournaments?

Lake Julian Disc Golf Course
I spent some time in Asheville, North
Carolina and here is the pin on hole 8 at Lake Julian Disc Golf Course.
It's a beautiful course, but man does it punish you if you stray off the
fairway. Loved the holes with the lake in the background. It was very
picturesque.

Top 10 shots from the 2017 European Open
With the most exciting finish yet in this storied tournament, Paul McBeth beat Greg Barsby by one stroke on the last hole to win the tournament. Barsby was attempting to do something no one has done in the history of the tournament and that is win the event wire to wire. It didn't happen though as the Beast did what he does so naturally and came through under pressure to snatch the win from Barsby who was very classy and sportsmanlike in defeat. What a great tournament. Enjoy the top 10 shots as compiled by SpinTV.
