Game 1 of the NBA Finals and Two Advertisements

As I watched game one of the NBA Finals tonight two commercials appeared which were interesting. One was the Kobe-Lebron puppet ad campaign, which besides the fact that I can't understand what they are saying, is passe now that Lebron isn't in the finals. The other was a blurb telling me that the Finals are brought to me by Chevy.

Now, I don't know how much these spots sell for, but something tells me they are not cheap. So...

1) The first ad (Lebron-Kobe) is ineffective because I don't know what they are selling, but even if I did I wouldn't buy it because the people who thought up the campaign were arrogant and considered themselves omniscient enough to design it and air it before the final teams (who through their basketball prowess made it to the finals) faced off against each other and which incidentally, didn't include one of the puppets. News flash to the guys who designed and approved the campaign, basketball is a TEAM sport and no matter how good your little puppet guy is, he still needs a supporting cast.

2) Government Motors shouldn't be spending money on ad campaigns for the NBA finals as they are restructuring and declaring bankruptcy. Not only do they produce sub-standard cars, but they are boneheaded enough to keep advertising in very costly viewership spots while their inefficacy and inefficiency is in the headlines all day every day. They need to pull the sponsorship, regroup and decide how best to spend the money. Here's a hint, spots in the NBA Finals do nothing for your credibility as a car manufacturing powerhouse Chevy.

Oh, and by the way, the Lakers blew out the Magic 100-75 in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. So at least one puppet did his job for the ad-men.
