
Okay, okay, reggae is still alive and well so the title of the post is a bit of hyperbole, but 30 years ago today the glowing firebrand of reggae passed away. I speak of course, of the great
Bob Marley who succumbed to malignant melanoma on May 11
th, 1981. A particularly good account of Marley's life is recounted in Timothy White's
Catch a Fire: The Life of Bob Marley. "Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds."
