Journey

Silent snowflakes fall.
Skeletal trees tilt their branches,
pining for the changing seasons.

An old man smiles.
Reclines in wondrous contentment,
and surveys the expanding white blanket.

Hushed incantations of winter stragglers,
accompany him on his final journey,
as breath expires.
