The worst deal in the world

There can be tons of them, but when it comes to wine what do you think it is? In my opinion, and in the opinion of some wine experts at the WSJ it is the following.

We all do it at some point, but ordering wine by the glass has to be the worst idea, both from a value proposition as well as ensuring you have a good wine experience.

I live in france and ordered a 'glass of wine' in a restaurant in the UK (my foends wer drinking other things). I was horrified at the size of the bottle it came out of, then it was red, white or Rosé - no questions of dry or sweet or even where it came from... Needless to say I didn't enjoy it

Sorry about the typos

No worries about the typos, what typos? I'm just happy to have someone commenting here. Thanks for the comment.

About six months ago I was in Mexico City and made the mistake of ordering a glass of Merlot. When it came and I tasted it, had I not been so polite, I would have spit it out right then and there. Vinegar would have tasted better. I asked the waiter to take it back and exchange it and to check into how long the bottle had been open. His response when he came back was the understatement of the year.

He said, "The bartender said it has been open a day too long."

Now when I dine alone I order a half bottle if they have it on the menu.
