It's Monday
And we all know what that means. Time for another MOTW, Manager of the Week. It was just a matter of time before this next manager surfaced here on The Night Canopy. Every company has at least one, if not multiple embodiments of him/her and they are generally not well liked, much like their brethren in public office.
MOTW: Political Manager
Political Manager has made friends and cultivated relationships with all the right people. He/she regularly survives purges and layoffs, usually reappearing stronger than before. Is the subject of rumors that he/she must have naked pictures of the company CEO’s significant other stashed somewhere.

Heat 4, Bulls 1
Miami is in the NBA finals. I am starting to get the feeling that these guys now know how to close out critical games. Last night's win was one for the ages as Miami downed Chicago in their own gym 83-80 in an impressive finish to the Eastern Conference finals. Chicago played well and was a worthy opponent, but in the end was no match for the talent on this Miami squad. It is on to the finals to face a very talented and scary opponent in the Dallas Mavericks. It should be a really fine series. Go Heat!Otherside
One can never have enough Red Hot Chili Peppers. Here is the video of their song Otherside. Enjoy and happy Friday.

You might be a zombie
And other bad news. I just finished reading this book from the editors of Cracked.com and not only is it hilarious, but it is chock full of shocking but utterly true facts. Some examples:Did you know that Barry Manilow did not write I write the songs? In fact he wasn't even the first person to cover it.
Did you know that Thomas Edison did not invent the light bulb? Hmmm.
Did you know that even though John F, Kennedy won a Pulitzer Prize for Profiles in Courage he didn't really write it?
Did you know that President Andrew Jackson spent a lot of time dueling? Depending on the sources consulted Jackson participated in anywhere from thirteen to hundreds of duels and was actually shot during one of them. The bullet remained in Jackson's body for nineteen more years.
This book is funny, informative and a light, entertaining read. Full title, You might be a zombie and other bad news.
